We welcome your interest in our online portal at www.meggle.de and our company.
We take the protection of your personal data – as collected, processed and used on the occasion of your visit to our portal – very seriously. We have taken steps both technically and organisationally to ensure that the provisions of data protection legislation are followed both by our company and our external service providers.
In this part of our site, we would like to inform you about the scope, nature and purpose of the collection and use of personal data you supply us with, and about their processing and application.
1. Collection and processing of data
“Personal data” means information about you as an individual. This includes details such as your name, address, phone number and email address.
In general, you can visit our website without leaving behind any personal data – such as when you simply want to find out about our products, for example, and just click on the relevant pages. When used in this way, we log all accesses made to our website and every download of a file stored on our website. The log files thus recorded are used for internal system administration and statistics. Our log files record the name of the file accessed, the date and time of the access, the data volume transferred, whether the access was successful, the web browser and the domain used for access. This process does not transfer any personal data from your computer, however, and the information we log is also stored separately from any personal data that you do make available to us. We also log the IP addresses of computers accessing our site.
In some circumstances, however, we do need your name and address – and other details – to ensure we can provide you with the services you require. These other items of personal data are recorded and stored only if you volunteer such information to us – such as when sending us an enquiry, registering on our site, making (or enquiring about) an order, and so forth.
You can withdraw your consent to use your data at any time. If you wish to do so, please email Mr Stefan Stelzer at stefan.stelzermeggle.de or write to us at MEGGLE AG, Megglestr. 6–12, 83512 Wasserburg, Germany.
2. Specific purpose, usage and sharing of personal data
If you provide us with your personal data we will use such data only to answer your enquiries, to handle questions about our services (participation in prize competitions, etc.), in relation to your feedback about advertising campaigns or in order to provide you with access to certain items of information or offers. Every use we make of your data should follow the letter of the law.
We will collect, process and use the personal data that you provide us with online only for the purposes that we have informed you about. Your personal data will be shared with or otherwise disclosed to third parties only if this becomes necessary in order to perform one of the activities as listed under Section 2. paragraph 1, e.g. in cases where MEGGLE Group companies contract service providers (e.g. so as to deliver goods you have ordered) or when you have agreed to such sharing of your data beforehand. Such third parties are prohibited from using the data for other purposes.
We naturally respect your wishes, should you not want your personal data to be used to further facilitate our customer relationship (and in particular for direct marketing or market research purposes).
We disclose personal data about our customers only if we are required to do so by law or if a court order requires us to disclose this data or if the sharing of such data is necessary in order to assert or uphold our General Terms & Conditions or other agreements we have made. The same applies in relation to the storage of these data.
No data are ever disclosed for our commercial benefit. Our employees and the service companies that we contract to work for us are required to sign a confidentiality agreement and to agree to observe the provisions of the German Federal Data Protection Act. All access to personal data by our employees is restricted to the employees who require access to the data concerned in order to perform their duties at our company.
Personal data we have stored about you are deleted as follows: if you have withdrawn your consent to the storage of your data; if knowledge of the data is no longer required to fulfil the purpose for which they were stored; or if their storage is prohibited for other legal reasons – except in such cases where statutory data retention periods prohibit such deletion, where the data are then locked out rather than deleted.
If you submit a request in writing, we will be happy to inform you about the data we have stored about you.
We make every effort to ensure that all technical and organisational steps have been taken to store your personal data so that they are safe from any unauthorised access. For email communications, we cannot guarantee that your data are 100% safe: if you wish to send us information in confidence, we recommend you do so by post.
